India likely to respond to 26/11 dossier today

New Delhi: Weeks after Pakistan sent its famous 30 questions on the Mumbai attack, India is finally ready with a reply.

The Mumbai Police have forwarded answers to the questionnaire to the Home Ministry. While some questions will be directly answered, some will need judicial go ahead.

Source say the response to Pakistan's questions will be in 3 parts. The answers to most questions lie in the 11,000 page chargesheet filed against Kasab.

The response includes details of:

Two pakistani mobile numbers used by Kasab while he was training in PoK

Photographs and addresses of the 9 dead terrorists involved in the attack

Copies of the 10 fake ID cards used by the terrorists.

Details of VOIP numbers used by terrorists to exchange information and receive instructions while the attack was underway.

Forensic analysis of the items recovered from the locations attacked, the hijacked fishing trawler Kuber and the terrorists.

And the finger prints and DNA profiles of all the ten terrorists.

Pakistan had also requested India to forward Kasab's confessional statement which has not been provided in these 30 answers.

In his confession, Kasab names key LeT men and their roles in the 26/11 attacks. His confession which was recorded before a magistrate and kept in a sealed envelope is not made available to even Mumbai police which perhaps explains why his confession is not yet a part of the answers to the 30 questions.

On Friday, Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik had warned that 26/11 suspects Zarar Shah and Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi would have to be released if India does not provide evidence against them.

Rehman Malik said, “I've asked the foreign office to convey a third reminder to India with a request to Indian authorities to please, please expedite with the needed information so that we can use it well within the remand period of the accused.”

India has in the past furnished ample evidence to Pakistan in several cases, including proof against underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Even if the Indian Government forwards the answers to Islamabad post haste, it still remains to be seen if effective action would be taken on it.
