SRINAGAR: Hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who has been spearheading street protests against the alleged rape and death of two women, has been arrested.
Along with Geelani, the second rung leadership of the of the pro-Pakistani grouping, including Ayaj Akbar and Ghulam Nabi Sumji, were also arrested last night in a crackdown on separatists, police sources said.
Geelani has been issuing a series of calls for protests in the Kashmir valley against the death of the two women in Shopian.
The state government also barred local cable television channels under the Cable TV Act from airing news allegedly encouraging separatist
