Kochi: Over 2000 delegates from India and abroad will be attending the four-day Kerala Travel Mart (KTM), beginning here from Sept 23 at the Bolgatty Palace Hotel here. Said to be the biggest International Travel Mart in the country showcasing tourism products of a single state, the sixth edition will see over 500 international tourism professionals from 54 countries participating, Riaz Ahmed, KTM President, said here.
There are 382 sellers from Kerala under different tourism product categories, including 12 houseboats. The record registration by the buyers from different countries, including Poland, Finland, Mexico and South Africa, shows the interest of buyers’ world over in the tourism sector of Kerala. A total number of 551 International and 1621 Domestic Buyers have registered for the mart, he said.
The UK has the highest number of buyer’s registration in this Mart, the theme of which is ’Athithi devo bhava”. The Mart is a market place of tourism products where the buyers come to meet and interact with the sellers and this time a new concept called ’Speed Networking’ is being introduced to give maximum opportunity to both buyers and sellers. The Kerala Mart Society conducts the Mart once in two years for selected buyers from outside Kerala and other parts of the world in order to meet, interact and promote the Sellers, who are members of the KTM Society.
