Ahead of floor test, Karnataka Speaker disqualifies rebel MLAs
Bangalore: Karnataka Assembly Speaker KG Bopaiah has disqualified 11 BJP dissident MLAs and five independents, hours before the BS Yeddyurappa government faces floor test in the House.
In his order, Bopaiah said these 16 MLAs have been disqualified under the provision of the anti-defection law as envisaged in the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution.
With this disqualification, the numbers now favour the BJP and it could scrape thorough in the floor test.
Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa would be moving the motion of trust vote in the Assembly which starts at 1000hrs.
