Minister says funds ‘diverted’, probe looks at Maytas firms
Lies, damned lies…
CID begins interrogating RajusNew Delhi: With the opposition parties accusing the Congress regime of being hand-in-glove with the Maytas group of companies and allocating it huge tracts of land, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy on Friday challenged his critics to use the Right to Information Act to gain access to official files relating to that firm.

“Every rule was strictly followed while allocating projects to Maytas. The Chief Secretary, who reviewed the issue, said in his report that every rule was followed,” the Chief Minister told reporters after a meeting with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Political Secretary to Congress president Sonia Gandhi Ahmed Patel.

Y S R Reddy, who was summoned by the Congress president to New Delhi on Saturday in connection with the Satyam scam, maintained that the issue did not figure in the discussion. He is likely to call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Congress president on Monday.

As for the allegations by the Opposition, the CM said, “To the best of my knowledge, no land was allocated by the state Government to Maytas. We allocated land to Satyam and it was in accordance with Government policies. In fact, larger chunks of land were allocated to other IT companies. I am reiterating that I welcome any inquiry, including CBI’s, into all aspects of the scam, including the Maytas issue.”
