The Indian Premier League match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians has been delayed due to a "low-intensity" explosion outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
The teams, warming up ahead of the match inside the stadium, were asked to return to the dressing room around 3.15pm local time after a loud noise was heard.
Initial reports suggested an over-heated power generator had exploded before the toss could take place, but police commissioner Shankar Bidari confirmed to reporters the blast was due to some sort of explosive material.
"A low-intensity blast occurred outside gate number 12," Bidari said.
"It appears some sort of explosive material was hidden in the wall, some distance away from the stands.
"Four policemen have suffered minor injuries and a security guard has been seriously injured. A section of the perimeter wall was also damaged
"We have called in forensic experts for further investigation. There is no need for panic and the match will go on."
Spectators were barred from entering the stadium for a period but were later allowed to pass freely.
The Mumbai Indians are already through to the IPL semi-finals, while the Royal Challengers could seal second spot in the table should they win.
The M Chinnaswamy Stadium is due to host two semi-final matches next week
