A violent tropical storm has killed 114 people in India, with 23 new victims reported in the eastern state of Bihar, the state disaster management office told Wednesday.
"Seventy two people were killed by the violent storm in Bihar in four districts," Vayas Mishra, secretary of the Bihar department of disaster management, told AFP late Wednesday.
The death toll in Bihar had previously been 49.
Thirty-eight died in West Bengal state and another four perished in northern Assam state when winds of up to 120 kilometres (75 miles) an hour tore across northeastern India overnight Tuesday.
A further two deaths have been reported in Bangladesh, taking the total toll to 116.
